What’s the Difference between Polyester Mesh Fabrics and Nylon Mesh Fabrics?
Nylon mesh fabrics are versatile, strong and durable. The nylon, also called polyamide is abrasion resistant and pull resistant. Also, nylon feels smoother and softer than polyester, making it ideal for intimate wear. Polyester and nylon are both stretchy, but nylon has better elastic property than polyester. In addition, nylon is a hydrophilic fiber which can absorb water well.
Polyester mesh fabrics is easy to dye and print because they are hydrophobic—they are water repellent. So the material allows the dye molecules to pass through and expel the water. In other words, polyester is a quick dry material which makes it ideal for wet environment. Furthermore, polyester is also more flame retardant than nylon, better to protect the clothing from sun burning.
Among the knitting garments, mesh fabrics are commonly used for underwear and sportswear. We call them power mesh and jersey mesh.
